Netflix should save Fresh Off the Boat starring Randall Park and Constance Wu after ABC canceled following season 6.

ABC has canceled its hit comedy series Fresh Off the Boat after six seasons, according to a report from Vulture. The cancellation is not immediate. The remaining episodes of the sixth season will air on ABC in early 2020.

With the show ending at ABC, this would be a great time for Netflix to save the show and bring it back for another season on the streaming service.

While some may argue Fresh Off the Boat’s story is done, I think there’s definitely room for the show to continue, especially with shorter seasons on Netflix. A 10-episode or 13-episode season would be a great experiment for the streaming service to see how it works. The show’s first season was only 13 episodes, and that’s its highest-rated season so far.

Netflix has had great success saving shows from cancellation and bringing them back to life as Netflix originals. Lucifer is the best example of this, but we’ve also seen it work with Longmire and a few others. It’s also worked with other networks. Brooklyn Nine-Nine was a significant move after it was canceled at Fox and moved to NBC.

Fresh Off the Boat is still pulling decent ratings, and Netflix could use a subscriber boost right now, with Disney Plus launching soon and HBO Max on the way next year.

There are many obstacles in the way to make this happen, but I still think it would be a good move from the streaming service. Fresh Off the Boat has major stars involved, including Randall Park, Constance Wu, Ray Wise, and Chelsey Crisp, and I think the many Netflix subscribers would tune in and watch this show if Netflix picked it up for another season.

Fresh Off the Boat’s first five seasons are currently streaming on Hulu, and they’ve never been available to stream on Netflix. With the streaming wars heating up, this show could replace some of the other network shows that will be leaving the streaming service in the next few years.

It’s very unlikely that the streaming network would be able to pull this off and save the show, but it’s definitely worth taking a flyer on if you’re Netflix. There’s a lot of potential with a show like this.

There’s also the possibility of a Fresh Off the Boat spinoff at ABC, according to the report. If Netflix could somehow find a way to pick that show up as well, this could be a great thing for the streaming network.

We can only hope this happens! Stay tuned for more news about the end of Fresh Off the Boat.
