With many episodes ahead, the fifth and final season of Lucifer is able to explore many stories. What will Part 1 and Part 2 be about?

Tom Ellis surprised us all with the huge news that Lucifer season 5 will be split into two parts! Since then, fans have been busy speculating everything from how long the gap between Part 1 and Part 2 will be to what we can expect to see. Below, we discuss how the story could be divided.

Though we don’t have an official release date just yet, we’re expecting Lucifer season 5 Part 1 to premiere on Netflix sometime spring 2020. This matches the time season 4 debuted on the streaming giant and, typically, shows like to keep the same time frame. As for Part 2, we’re guessing it can premiere anywhere from 3-5 months after Part 1.

We love how there is some separation between both parts, this will allow the stories to take their time developing instead of rushing to wrap it all up. What it also means is that we’re in for another cliffhanger! Spoiler alert! If you are not caught up on the series, please note there are spoilers ahead.

Season 4 concluded on a cliffhanger — Lucifer decided that the people he loves are not safe while he is on Earth, so he returned to Hell, leaving a heartbroken Chloe behind (and viewers in tears). How soon will Lucifer Morningstar return to Earth? What new obstacle will stand on his way to happiness? Let’s discuss!

According to most theories online, and my personal thoughts, Part 1 will be about Lucifer’s battle to return and be able to peacefully remain a resident of Earth. I don’t think there will be too many episodes before he’s back in the modern world.

In fact, he’ll likely return by the second episode. Maybe even the first. But there will be serious consequences and demons (both literal and figurative) that he’ll have to face. Part 1 can focus on his battle to be free of Hell and his duties there.

Part 2, however, will introduce an all-new threat. What that threat is, nobody knows! If my prediction is correct, the cast and crew have a few tricks up their sleeve and are planning on something fun and unique for the final half of the series.

A new villain, maybe? Hell and Heaven do have many colorful characters for Lucifer to play with. What are your predictions for the final season of the series?

The first four seasons of Lucifer are streaming on Netflix.
