2. One Day at a Time

Canceled after:

Once again, Netflix got rid of a series that champions diversity and women when they canceled One Day at a Time. Fortunately, however, there’s a happy ending for this comedy-drama. After killing the series shortly after season three premiered, the Pop network announced it was picking up the show to revive it in 2020. So, if you were a fan already, look out for more episodes soon on Pop!

One Day at a Time is critically acclaimed and has been nominated for several Primetime Emmy’s. The series was also nominated for a GLAAD Media Award for Outstanding Comedy Series. The reviews for the show, as you can probably guess, are also amazing. We’re not sure why Netflix would cancel something great. According to Netflix, not enough people watched. Their loss!

When Netflix canceled the series, fans were less than happy. Everyone took to Twitter to blow up Netflix’s notifications about their outrage. Even though Netflix claimed “not enough people watched to justify another season,” this hit us all right in the feels. Protests began and, honestly, I didn’t think they would go anywhere, but this shows how important it is to at least try to fight for something you want. Soon enough, Pop showed up to the rescue.

One Day at a Time stars Justina Machado, Todd Grinnell, Isabella Gomez, Marcel Ruiz and others. Reportedly, the same cast will be returning to the show when it premieres on Pop. The comedy-drama tackled tough-hitting topics and never hesitated to speak up about issues such as mental illness, immigration, homophobia, racism and more.
