24. Sense8

Canceled after: 2 seasons

Who doesn’t love a brilliant sci-fi drama? Apparently, not Netflix, because it canceled Sense8 after only two seasons. It’s no secret the streaming giant champions diversity, and this series rocked at featuring all walks of life, fitting right into today’s world.

Sense8 kicked off with a multinational ensemble cast that includes Aml Ameen, Jaime Clayton Tina Desai, Max Riemelt, Brian J. Smith, among others. Each of these characters journey’s were followed by audiences as they discovered they are “sensates,” which means they’re all mentally and emotionally linked. If this is the first you hear about the series, you’re likely already intrigued. That’s one of the things I love best about Sense8, it draws you in immediately!

Season 2 was a bit different. Some characters were replaced and the series began to highlight tough-hitting topics such as politics, gender and religion. Needless to say, not all viewers agreed with the new concept. Still, the critical reception was generally great. The series won a GLADD Media Award for Outstanding Drama Series and received an Emmy nomination for Outstanding Original Main Title Theme Music.

Such a fun and unique series deserved another season simply for standing out from all other shows, but, more than anything, we deserve to know what happens after such a big cliffhanger season 2 left viewers with. Thankfully, Netflix did give us an extended series finale to give us some much-needed answers, but it’s not enough. We want another season!
