14. Dear White People

Canceled after: 4 seasons

Based on the movie of the same name, Dear White People follows a group of black college students at an Ivy League school who touch on modern race issues. Not only is the premise unique (and necessary), but so is the way Dear White People presents the comedy-drama.

Each episode follows the story of one of the characters, with the exception of the finale, where they all collide. This is also a quick watch, running just about 30 minutes an episode. The series first premiered in 2017 and the third earlier this year. Season 4, which is set to be the last season, is set to debut on Netflix in 2020.

On the bright side, there are more episodes to look forward to. And if you haven’t seen the series, this is your final chance to catch up before the final season premieres. Trust me, it’s worth it and hilarious! Unfortunately, however, it appears Netflix has already made up its mind about it and won’t be renewing the series for another season.

From critics, Dear White People received positive responses and reviews, but audiences were having none of it. Many called the series offensive, before even watching it! This didn’t hurt the series creator at all, commenting that, if anything, the negative feedback helps the series fall under more eyes. It worked, but, regrettably, not for more than four seasons.
