While there’s surely much more Christmas content to come in December, there’s not much by way of children’s programming coming to Netflix in November. Most of the holiday movies are romantic comedies that kids just wouldn’t be interested in. However, the streaming giant debuts a new animated Christmas film to join the ranks of classics families watch each year. This month, Klaus premieres on Netflix, and it’s sure to be a new favorite for the whole family.

Jason Schwartzman voices the role of Jesper, the postal academy’s worst student, which lands him a position in the seemingly dreaded local of a frozen island above the Arctic Circle. To his relief, the bitterly embattled locals hardly speak to each other, much less send each other mail. When he’s ready to throw in the towel, Jesper finds a friend in teacher Alva (Rashida Jones) and encounters Klaus (J. K. Simmons), a carpenter who lives on his own among his handmade toys. Jesper’s new friendships help inspire a new chapter full of holiday cheer for the small, icy town.

Klaus comes from director Sergio Pablos, who worked on such classic Disney animated films as The Hunchback of Notre Dame, Hercules and Tarzan. The film was animated with those styles in mind, eschewing the new modern updates on the art form of animation. In order to be illegible to compete in the Best Animated Feature category at the Academy Awards, the film will receive a limited theatrical release one week before its streaming debut. If the kids are looking to get into the holiday spirit a little early, make sure to watch Klaus when it premieres on Nov. 15.
