How to Get Away with Murder was back with episode 5 of season 6 and it was an absolute heartbreaker. Check out the top 5 moments from this week.

How to Get Away with Murder was back with another episode this week, and it was completely heartbreaking and emotional. From the first minute to the last, it was one sad/angsty scene after the next. But a few moments stood out from the rest. Here are the top 5 best moments from this week.

1. Frank in trouble

After last week, it was unclear what had happened to Frank but it was obvious that someone had beaten the crap out of him. We found out this week that it was Laurel’s brother, Xavier. When he found Frank at his safe house, he asked him to help him find his sister. When Frank refused, he tortured him almost to death. He didn’t let him go until Xavier told Frank that Annalise was the one who helped Laurel disappear. Whether that’s the truth or not is still up in the air.

The good news for Frank is that he made it through surgery and seems to be on the mend. He also was able to confess his feelings for Bonnie while she took care of him in the hospital.

2. Michaela and her father

Michaela spent a little more time with her father, Solomon, this week, but while they got a little closer, they didn’t end things well. He has almost no time for her, so Michaela asks for the money she feels she’s owed and leaves. Solomon gives her a blank check.

It isn’t until later after she talks with Connor that she realizes the money isn’t enough. She actually does want a father and everything that relationship is supposed to provide. It will be interesting to see how this relationship plays out and what Solomon’s role will be as the series goes on.

3. Tegan and Cora

Tegan’s storyline this week was absolutely heartbreaking. She finally got up the courage to meet with her soon-to-be ex-wife, Cora, and it brought up all the old feelings she’d been trying to suppress for so long. They end up fighting and Tegan ends up at Annalise’s apartment where she confesses all. Turns out, as much as she doesn’t want to, she still loves Cora.

But that love makes Cora’s lack of feelings for her hurt even more. This was such a brutal scene. It was great that they were finally being honest with each other, but the raw honesty of Cora’s words hurt to watch. It was good to see Tegan be emotional after seeing her be strong for so long.

4. Annalise’s realizations

This week’s episode brought a lot of revelations for Annalise. When she first appears in the episode, she’s listening to the tape of her therapy session with Sam. In it, she is telling him about her feelings for him.

Later on in the episode, she tells Bonnie that she does now believe she did manipulate Sam into a relationship because she wanted to be accepted and didn’t feel like she could be if she was with a woman. She didn’t feel she could be accepted as a gay woman. She also didn’t want to end up alone.

She then goes on to tell Gabriel that she wasn’t even happy when Sam and she were together because he kept pushing. It was clear to her he wanted a kid so badly and that’s why she tried as much as she could to give him one.

Annalise has rarely been this honest in an episode before. It was so refreshing to see. Maybe that rehab/therapy actually worked.

5. Annalise and the money

When Bonnie tells Annalise about Frank thinking she’s responsible for Laurel’s disappearance, at first, she tells them she had nothing to do with it and that Xavier is lying. But then we see her check her secret bank account. It had $200,000 in it, but when she checks the balance this time, it only has a little over $2.

Did Laurel take back the money? Or was the money really from her job like she said? If it was, why doesn’t she know where it went? And why did she call Michaela’s father and tell him it was time to pay up? Hopefully, we’ll find out next week.

How to Get Away with Murder airs Thursdays at 10 p.m. on ABC.
