Thor: Ragnarok starring Chris Hemsworth, Tessa Thompson, and Tom Hiddleston is leaving Netflix in December 2019. It will likely move to Disney Plus.

We have some bad news to share with Thor: Ragnarok and Marvel fans. According to a report from What’s on Netflix, Thor: Ragnarok is leaving Netflix in December, and the last day you can watch the film will Dec. 6, 2019.

Thor: Ragnarok, other than Black Panther, is the best Marvel movie remaining on Netflix. I don’t know if I like it more than Black Panther, but it’s definitely up there with the best Marvel movies of the last few years.

Directed by Taika Waititi, the film premiered in theaters in November 2017, and it was a massive success and breath of fresh air for Thor franchise. It’s so much better than the other two Thor movies, and it doubled down on the jokes. It’s the perfect complement to the more serious films of the MCU.

Chris Hemsworth stars in the film, along with Tom Hiddleston, Tessa Thompson, Mark Ruffalo, Cate Blanchett, Waititi, Idris Elba, Karl Urban, and Jeff Goldblum.

In the film, Hela escapes her prison and takes over Asgard. Thor and Loki end up on a remote planet and no way to return to save their home.

Many people might look at Disney Plus and automatically assume the film is leaving Netflix because Disney Plus is launching on Nov. 12. It’s not like that, though. Thor: Ragnarok was always leaving Netflix in December 2019, regardless of Disney canceling its deal with Netflix early.

All the new Disney movies added to Netflix between 2016 and 2019 only stay on the streaming service for about 18 months, and they leave for cable networks or other streaming services. In this case, I think you’ll probably find Ragnarok on Disney Plus and then on cable networks, as well.

We’ll let you know more about Ragnarok leaving Netflix when we find out and where you can stream this movie in the future.

Thor is also getting another sequel. Thor: Love and Thunder will be directed by Waititi and is scheduled for a 2021 release date. It’s going to be awesome, and you better believe it will be headed for Disney Plus.

Even with Ragnarok leaving Netflix, there are a few Marvel movies on Netflix and will stay there for a while, including Black Panther, Avengers: Infinity War, and Ant-Man and the Wasp. You can also catch Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse on Netflix right now. Stay tuned for more news about the Marvel movies leaving Netflix.
