Scream, Pulp Fiction, The Sixth Sense and the 15 best 90s movies on Netflix right now!

Netflix has a great selection of ’90s movies! Check out our list of the 15 best Netflix movies to watch for some ’90s nostalgia.

Someone asked me once to describe the ’90s in one word, and no matter how you string all 26 letters of the alphabet together, one word just isn’t enough. The ’90s was flannel shirts and Doc Martins, the Macarena and Beanie Babies, fanny packs and Skip-It. It was Keds and New Kids, sleepovers and puff paint, and more neon than anyone should ever wear. It was Naughty by Nature and Biggie, Nirvana and No Doubt, TGIF and Saturday morning cartoons.

The ’90s was the best of times and the worst of times all rolled into one decade we didn’t fully appreciate until it was all over. Luckily for us, Netflix is currently streaming an impressive selection of 90s movies for our nostalgic viewing pleasure.

Here’s a look at the Netflix movies you won’t want to miss.

Scream (1996)

The Scream franchise was the gift that kept on giving with four movies released between 1996 and 2011. Director Wes Craven brilliantly resurrected the slasher genre with an all-star cast included Neve Campbell, as Sidney Prescott, Courteney Cox and David Arquette.

Sidney and her friends are the target of Ghostface, a knife-wielding masked killer who references horror movies when stalking his next victim. Drew Barrymore makes an unforgettable and short-lived cameo in the first scene that ends with her murder and sets the tone for one of the most beloved franchises in horror movie history.

Fun fact: Drew Barrymore and Molly Ringwald were both in line to play the role of Sidney Prescott but turned it down.

Scream 2 (1997)

Scream 2 picks up two years after Ghostface’s first killing spree. Neve Campbell reprises her role as Sidney Prescott, now in college and once again the center of a murderous rampage.

Courteney Cox, David Arquette and Jamie Kennedy also return to the series alongside some very familiar faces including Jada Pinkett Smith, Omar Epps, Tori Spelling, Sarah Michelle Gellar, Heather Graham and Jerry O’Connell (to name a few).

Candyman (1992)

Say his name three times, and you’ll wish you didn’t. Virginia Madsen plays grad student Helen Lyle who unwittingly summons the evil, murderous spirit of Candyman, played by Tony Todd.

Fun fact: The real “Candyman,” Dean Corll, was a serial killer who murdered at least 28 boys in Houston between 1970 and 1973. His family owned a candy factory, hence his nickname.

Bad Boys (1995)

When Bad Boys hit theaters in 1995, Will Smith and Martin Lawrence were the stars in their own highly successful television shows. They joined forces in the Michael Bay-directed action-comedy, and the rest was history. Smith and Lawrence play detectives tasked with protecting a witness and solving the case of missing drugs from their precinct’s evidence room.

Fun fact: Will Smith and Martin Lawrence return to the series in Bad Boys 3: For Life, coming out in theaters next year.

The Crow (1994)

Shrouded in tragedy, The Crow offered a glimpse into the brilliance that was Brandon Lee, the son of martial arts legend Bruce Lee. Brandon Lee died on March 31, 1993, after an accident on set; one year later, The Crow was released in theaters. Lee plays an undead crusader who avenges both his and his fiancée’s deaths.
