How to Get Away with Murder was back and it looks like no one’s secrets are safe. Check out the top moments this week’s episode.
The second episode of season 6 of How to Get Away with Murder, “Two Birds, One Millstone,” was almost as thrilling and packed with secrets as the premiere. But what were the best moments of the episode? Let’s take a look.
1. Vivian Maddox is here
One of the biggest parts of this episode was Gabriel’s mom, Vivian, arriving and confronting Annalise right outside the university. She had absolutely no qualms about fighting with Annalise in public. But that’s not all she had up her sleeve.
She also met with Tegan and pretty much threatened her with a lawsuit if Annalise was arrested for illegal activity and Gabriel was caught up in it. And worst of all (at least for Annalise and the Keating 5), she also happens to be talking to the FBI. But Annalise doesn’t go down without a fight and she gives her one.
2. Gabriel’s secret revealed
Early on in the episode, Micheala revealed to her housemates that Gabriel implied he killed his mom’s boyfriend. So, when Annalise is trying to figure out a way to make Vivian and Gabriel go home, Asher tells her what he knows.
At first, Annalise wants no part in it. She is done with manipulating people to get what she wants. But when she’s desperate, she always falls back on old habits. So when she sees Vivian talking to the FBI, she immediately goes to her apartment and tells her what her son did.
While Vivian doesn’t believe Annalise at first, she soon sees it as the truth. The next scene starts with her telling her son exactly what she knows.

3. Detention centers
The case of the week was fought by Connor and Asher and dealt with Hector, a small boy who was seeking asylum. Since he doesn’t speak English, they give him a paper and pen to draw with and he ends up drawing an ICE agent with a gun.
While it’s a start to their case, they can’t exactly use a drawing in court. It isn’t until Oliver sneaks in a phone to use the translating app that they finally get somewhere (or so they think). Hector grabs the phone and immediately Facetimes his mother who turns out to be in America.
Connor tells Annalise he’s going to ask the mother to testify about the violence in their home country. It would help show how much the boy needs asylum.
Luckily, Annalise knows better. She informs him that ICE uses kids as bate to arrest their undocumented parents. Having her testify would put them both in danger.
Fortunately, Connor comes up with a better plan. He has someone dress up as an ICE agent and puts them on the stand. All it takes is Hector’s cries and screams to get his point across. Hector was clearly traumatized by his time in a detention center and should be granted asylum.
But while the judge agrees, she can’t give him asylum with just that evidence alone. She grants him a continuation instead. The scene finishes with Connor promising Hector (with Tegan working as translator) that he will reunite Hector with his mom. Let’s all cross our fingers he doesn’t mess this one up.
4. Is Laurel missing?
Frank’s search for Laurel continued this week. Last week, he found a key behind a picture frame in her room. This week, he found out the key belonged to a safe deposit box that was under her name and another family member’s. But he doesn’t know who that family member is.
This brings him to prison to visit her father. To say their meeting doesn’t go well would be an understatement. But Annalise saves the day again.
When Frank shows her the key, she knows exactly who else has access to the box: Wes. And with him dead, Frank easily makes himself a fake ID so he can see what’s inside.
What’s inside? All the information Wes had on all of Annalise, Frank, Bonnie, and the Keating 5. But when Frank opens it, he finds nothing.
According to the bank employee, Laurel emptied it three days before. So is she actually missing, is she working with the FBI, or is someone coercing her into getting the information in the box?
5. Michaela’s journey for her father
At the end of last week’s episode, Michaela found out that Annalise may have known her father, but we found out this week that wasn’t exactly true. Annalise was an intern on his case, but she never actually met him. This leads to Oliver scouring the internet for something on the man and finding a newsletter from the prison he’s at.
Deciding she wants to meet him, Michaela goes to the prison, but he’s not there. He was transferred to another facility.
Determined to see her father no matter what, she drives to the next prison only to find out the worst news of all: her father died of a stroke the year before. She ends up at Annalise’s apartment sobbing and yelling at her for keeping the information from her for so long.
