2. Will Payton win the election?

As if Payton running for student body president wasn’t challenging enough, the race to become senator will surely bring on even more drama. This is what season 2 will be focused on and we can’t wait to watch every step of the way, we’re with you, Payton!

What are Payton’s chances of winning the race against Dede Standish (Judy Light) for New York State Senate? I would say, pretty good! At least, that’s how things appear when the series closes up its first season.

Payton is proudly standing with Alice and his friends James (Theo Germaine), Skye (Rahne Jones),  McAfee (Laura Dreyfuss), Astrid (Lucy Boynton) and Infinity (Zoey Deutch) as he announces his campaign. Not many people are in the crowd, but Payton will surely gather a lot of attention for several reasons.

For starters, Payton is a new face. As much as New York has loved Dede Standish, it may be time for something fresh. Also, as Payton puts it, “it’s time to get New York back on track!” Second, don’t underestimate the power of millennials. Standish’s campaign (or lack thereof) was sloppy at best. McAfee is right in calling them arrogant.

May I also remind you that Astrid has some dirt on Standish? That will surely come handy when the race begins. Payton is coming, and Standish may not be well prepared. Not so fast, though, The Politician surprised us with may twists. Even if Payton wins, it won’t be that easy.
