If you haven’t seen Moana, what are you waiting for? If you think you only like the classic films or those from the Disney Renaissance, think again! Moana is just as good, if not better, than the films you might have grown up on. The music is perfect and the story will make you believe you can achieve your goals. It’s such a magical movie.
The film follows Moana, the daughter of Motunui’s chief, who goes on a journey to return the heart of the ocean to Te Fiti in order to help save the people of her island. But starting the journey is easier said than done. Her father does whatever he can to keep her away from the water and she has duties to train to become the island’s next chief.
But once Moana learns about her ancestors, she becomes determined to find Maui, the demigod that stole Te Fiti’s heart to begin with and then make him go with her to return it.
When she makes it to the island Maui is on, after much disagreement, she gets him to take her to get the heart. She also realizes that Maui doesn’t have the powers he once had and that this will also be a chance for him to redeem himself. First, they need his fishhook which is in the hands (or claws) of Tamatoa, a shiny-obsessed crab.
Luckily, they outsmart him and make their way to Te Fiti. But after defeat and more disagreements, it becomes clear that Moana must return the heart herself.
This scene gives me goosebumps every time I watch it just like I used to get when I watched Aladdin and Beauty and the Beast as a kid. Hopefully, it does the same for you.
