Bring your tissues for this one! Disney loves to torture us with sad but inspiring animal stories and Bambi is the original. Just know that Bambi’s mom dies in the first half of the movie and you will need at least one box of tissues. The movie may also change your stance on hunting animals as the villain who hunts Bambi and his friends is simply known as “The Man”.
As the movie continues, Bambi comes to realize that the Great Prince of the Forest is his father. Bambi grows into a young stag and hangs out with his friends, Thumper, a rabbit, Flower, a skunk, and Faline, a female deer, all who he has known since he was very young.
As they live their lives and find romance along the way, they must survive the hunters coming into their habitat. When Bambi finds Faline cornered by one of the hunter’s dogs, he quickly gets them away from her so she can escape.
But soon the situation becomes even more dangerous when the hunter’s bonfire spreads to the forest. Bambi along with his father and his friends take shelter near the river. Luckily, all the animals get to safety. (Besides Bambi’s mother, no other animals are hurt!)
If you can get through the first part of this 1942 classic, the rest is pretty happy in comparison. And of course, it ends with a happily ever after.
Also, while there is music throughout the film, this movie is part of the Golden Age of Disney so it’s not like the musical films that Disney put out later. Sorry, Bambi never really sings about hanging out in the forest.
