5. Inside Out

Feelings! Whether you are in tune with your feelings or avoid them like the plague, Inside Out is worth a watch. According to the movie, we all have a very intricately built place inside of us with little characters that contains our feelings. Inside Out follows Riley whose feelings are doing great until her and her family move to a new place and she is bullied at her new school.

Riley has five basic emotions that live inside of her, including Joy, Sadness, Fear, Disgust, and Anger. They come to life and interact inside of her as her feelings change and evolve. As she grows, she creates memories that are then stored in a hub forming different parts of her personality.

After one bad thing after another pile onto each other, Sadness is shown touching different memories and turning them sad and this leads her creating her first sad core memory on her first day at her new school.

Joy tries to get rid of the memory, but ends up knocking over all the other memories and destroying Riley’s personality. Joy and Sadness are also sucked up and sent to long-term memory storage and only Anger, Fear, and Disgust are left to control her brain. They don’t do the best job as you can probably guess.

This movie is so utterly sweet, but also highly educational about emotions and how to build emotional intelligence. If you haven’t watched Inside Out yet, this is the perfect opportunity to do so!
