13. Big Hero 6

But the Disney classics aren’t the only movies being added to Disney Plus this November. There are a bunch of newer movies as well. Big Hero 6 follows 14-year-old, Hiro, a high school graduate who loves robotics and enters a bunch of illegal robot fights in a futuristic city of San Fransokyo.

To try to get him away from that life, his brother takes him to a research lab where Hiro is so impressed that he decides to apply to university. To enroll, he must enter the school’s science fair but things don’t go as planned and Hiro’s brother is killed.

Depressed about his brother’s death, Hiro starts up Baymax, the robot his brother created. Together they follow one of Hiro’s microbots to an abandoned warehouse where they discover someone is creating tons of Hiro’s designs. They go on– with the help of his brother’s friends, Go-go, Wasabi, Honey Lemon, and Fred– to try to discover who set the fire that took his brother’s life.

At first Hiro wants to outfit Baymax with a karate chip to help defeat the man responsible for his brother’s death, but through this journey for vengeance, Baymax shows Hiro that violence and revenge is not the way out of his grief. That’s not what his brother would have wanted. Hiro, Baymax, and his friends become a band of tech-y heroes to find out what exactly is going on.

This is a heartwarming (and at points heartbreaking) animated film that is a must watch. With its compelling story about getting beyond grief and dealing with emotions in a healthy way, it’s an instant classic.
