Despite spending a good portion of season 4 repenting for past sins, Cassidy is about to take a turn for the worse. Continue reading for our preview of the Preacher series finale.

After everything that happened in season 4 of AMC’s Preacher, it’s a shame to see Cassidy (Joe Gilgun) turn on his friends. He’s been fighting alongside Tulip (Ruth Negga) and Jesse (Dominic Cooper) to stop God (Mark Harelik) from destroying the world but he’s succumbed to temptation.

What’s sad is all it took was one glimpse at the past for Cassidy to become God’s newest lackey. Most of us thought Cass was strongwilled enough to resist—especially after he shrugged off the Almighty’s first offer—but that doesn’t appear to be the case anymore.

In the Preacher series finale, Cassidy will apparently take up arms against the woman he loves. Cass declared his love to Tulip shortly after Jesse fell to his death but that proposal doesn’t seem to be all that important to him. Glimpses at them fighting in the trailer confirms that Tulip and Cassidy will duke it out at some point.

The interesting tidbit is that we don’t know who’ll come out the bout victorious. Cass is a vampire who can tear into Tulip’s body at will but fans need to remember that she’s not a pushover. Tulip can just as easily kill Cassidy, although it may require more effort on her part.

There is, however, a chance that neither of them will die during this altercation. It’s the series finale and casualties are expected but no evidence so far suggests they’ll meet untimely ends. Jesse might die during his fight with the Saint of Killers but Cassidy and Tulip don’t have to. They could easily walk away from the entire debacle, of course, that’s easier said than done.
