Love. Suspense. Drama. You know, the typical Grey’s Anatomy episode. Here are the 5 best moments from the season 16 premiere.

Grey’s Anatomy just kicked off its 16th season (can you believe it?!) this week. As always, there were plenty of things going on that had us in a frenzy. It didn’t help that the season 15 finale left off in a cliffhanger of sorts.

Luckily, the season 16 premiere wastes no time in answering our questions and clearing up some of the mystery Grey’s Anatomy left us with. Is Jackson alive? Did Teddy have her baby? Is Jo still checked in at the center? Is DeLuca still in jail or did Meredith swap places with him?

Don’t worry, we don’t have to wait out the entire season before learning the answers to these questions! We pretty much catch up with everyone, including the ones that Bailey fired after learning about the insurance fraud last season. So, without further ado, let’s dive into the 5 best moments from the season 16 premiere!

1. Someone’s pregnant…

Yes, that’s right! Nope, it’s not Teddy, because she had her and Owen’s adorable little baby. Side note: Their family is super cute! Okay, so if it’s not Teddy–who the heck is it?!

AMELIA! That’s right. Unbeknownst to her, Amelia finds out that she’s with child after going to talk to Carina about something completely unrelated. If you’re wondering what that is, she and Link were at dinner and she realized there were a lot of things she hasn’t tried and she’d like to–like a threesome.

So, with the intention of going to Carina to talk to her about that, she, in turn, learns from Carina that she is pregnant. If you watched Amelia’s story arc in Private Practice (the Grey’s Anatomy spin-off), then you know this is a very, very big deal. I’m not sure how she will handle it, but I’m very excited for her.

So much for taking things slow with Link, huh?

2. Will you marry me…again?

Last season on Grey’s Anatomy, Jo had a very turbulent and jarring story after learning the truth about her birth parents. It was something that ultimately broke her down to the point that she disconnected from Alex, work, and herself.

In the season 15 finale, Jo finally agrees to check into a retreat to help battle her depression. During the season 16 premiere, Alex drops her off, but before he leaves, Jo tells him he is free to leave her if he wants. They were never officially married because the paperwork was never filed, so if he wants an out, he has it.

Mind you, Alex Karev has had a very tumultuous time finding stable relationships, so we feel for the guy. But Jo is different, and he has no intentions of letting the woman go. Which is why when he goes to pick her up, he proposes to her again and says he doesn’t need an out. He’s here for the long haul. Cue a million “awwws”.

3. It’s time to sell the house…

Teddy finally delivers her and Owen’s baby, thus giving him the family he’s always dreamed of with the woman of his dreams. I think this time around, Owen has it right. Finally. Things aren’t very easy for Teddy with the baby, and she refuses to move into Owen and Amelia’s home.

Her solution is to check into a hotel instead of letting Owen help out. As a romantic and much-needed gesture, Owen puts that house up for sale. It’s time to find a new house for their new family! Poor Koracick, he got the boot, didn’t he?

4. Is Jackson alive? Yes, very much so.

For all you Jackson Avery fans out there, don’t worry, he’s alive and well. But his relationship with Maggie? Not so much. After leaving her in the car and storming off into the darkness, we learn that Jackson stumbled upon a man that needed help and saved his life.

Leaving Maggie behind like that really rattled her, and she never quite forgave him for doing so. This put quite the strain on their relationship so while we’re happy that Jackson is alive, unfortunately, his and Maggie’s relationship is not.

But he didn’t waste any time in finding the next one. AKA Vic from Station 19.

5. Meredith’s future hangs in the balance

Grey’s Anatomy has officially put Derek Shepherd in the past as Meredith is 100% in love with DeLuca. Which is why it comes as no surprise that Meredith comes clean about her involvement with the insurance fraud. She can’t have him living out her punishment–that’s just not cool.

So, DeLuca gets out of jail, and she’s punished instead (don’t worry, she didn’t go to jail, it’s just community service). Things seem like they’re going to be okay until we reach the end of the Grey’s Anatomy season 16 premiere.

Meredith receives an email from the medical board saying they are going to go after her medical license for committing insurance fraud. Um, are they really going to remove the greatest doctor of all time from her profession? Chances are, probably not. But it makes for a great story, doesn’t it?
