For a certain generation, the Charlie’s Angels were Farrah Fawcett, Kate Jackson and Jaclyn Smith. But for the generation that came of age in the early 2000s, the Charlie’s Angels were and always will be Cameron Diaz, Drew Barrymore and Lucy Liu. The trio starred in the first film reboot of the popular 1970s television series, which later spawned another television reboot and the upcoming film from Elizabeth Banks starring Kristen Stewart, Naomi Scott and Ella Balinska. Ahead of the new installment, Charlie’s Angels and Charlie’s Angels: Full Throttle come to Netflix this month.

In Charlie’s Angels, Natalie (Cameron Diaz), Dylan (Drew Barrymore) and Alex (Lucy Liu) combine their unique talents as an elite private investigators to locate a kidnapped billionaire in the making. They use their incredible skills in martial arts, technology and disguises to remove a top-secret voice-identification software from the wrong hands. Full Throttle finds the Angels taking a new missions and helping stop the deaths of new members of the Witness Protection Program. While testing their bond as a group, the Angels must take on a fallen former Angel.

Both of the reboot films come from director McG and were box office hits, bringing in a combined $523 million worldwide. Charlie’s Angels holds a 68% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, while the sequel holds a middling 43%. Even though planned third and fourth films never materialized, Banks’ upcoming film won’t be a reboot or remake but rather a continuation, incorporating events from the television series and these two movies. Fingers crossed that means there’s the hope of a cameo from our OG ’00s Angels. Check out the cult classics when they starting streaming in October.
