11. Rhythm + Flow

Season: 1

Starring: Cardi B, Chance the Rapper, Tip “T.I.” Harris

Release Date: Wednesday, Oct. 9

Even though it’s been a significant amount of time since a singing competition series spawned a hit-making talent by the likes of Kelly Clarkson or Carrie Underwood, they remain some of the most popular shows on television. The Voice nears its 20th season, The Masked Singer flipped the script on singing competitions and American Idol returned to ABC with judges Katy Perry, Luke Bryan and Lionel Richie. It was only a matter of time before Netflix got in the game.

Rhythm + Flow, Netflix’s first whack at a music competition series, isn’t your typical American Idol-type series. Instead, the competition searches for the next big hip-hop superstar, featuring judges and global hip-hop superstars Cardi B, Chance the Rapper and T.I. These hit makers come together for a multi-city hunt for a game-changer in the hubs of hip-hop: Los Angeles, New York, Atlanta and Chicago. The goal of Rhythm + Flow is to discover talented artists and help them follow their dreams. As we know, all it takes is one chance to make a superstar.

Unlike the majority of Netflix’s content, Rhythm + Flow won’t premiere its entire 10-episode first season in one run. Rather, the series will take on a weekly format. the first four episodes featuring the auditions will arrive on Oct. 9, the next three episodes featuring the beginning of the competition will drop the following Wednesday and the final three episodes conclude season 1 on Oct. 23. Being so, viewers still have the satisfaction of binge-watching the series without the competition getting spoiled online. You don’t want to miss the one-of-a-kind Rhythm + Flow!
