Are you in the market for a god, old-fashioned thriller? Well, Netflix is selling what you’re buying. On top of its many new release throwbacks, binge-able TV shows and the plethora of incredible content vying for our attention this month is Fractured, a solid mystery-thriller sure to get you out of your own mind and into your head. That is, you’ll be in your head trying to put the pieces of the puzzle together before the film reveals the details itself.

Sam Worthington stars in Fractured as Ray Monroe, who’s on the road home with his wife Joanne (Lily Rabe) and daughter Peri (Lucy Capri) from a less than thrilling weekend with his in-laws. While pulling into a rest stop, an accident injures Peri, and the family heads to the hospital to tend to her wounds. However, the emergency room stop doesn’t appear to have the best intentions, and Ray soon discovers that Joanne and Peri, as well as all records of their visit to the hospital, have simply vanished without a trace. Before time runs out, Ray must uncover the truth to get his family back.

Fractured was directed by Brad Anderson, who also helmed such films as The Machinist, Vanishing on 7th Street, The Call and Beirut. The film first made its world premiere at Fantastic Fest on Sept. 22, 2019, ahead of its worldwide streaming debut on Netflix. There’s no advanced word on Fractured’s reception, though the thriller appears to be one of the streamer’s biggest pushes this October. Be sure to catch the big premiere on Oct. 11.
