Don’t feel ashamed if you miss Rugrats. In fact, you’re more than likely in the minority if you don’t miss Rugrats. With shows like Invader Zim and Rocko’s Modern Life returning in the form of Netflix movies, it’s only a matter of time for other Nickelodeon favorites to make a comeback. And there’s good news: Rugrats will be revived for a 26-episode season and hit theaters fora live-action/CGI-hybrid film in 2021. Get the party started with the franchise’s first film.

The Rugrats Movie arrived in the middle of the popular animated series’ run and found the baby group’s leader, Tommy Pickles, grappling with the new arrival of his little brother Dil. When Tommy’s antagonistic older cousin Angelica tells him the new addition will cause his parents to forget about him, Tommy attempts to return Dil to the hospital. His mission takes an unexpected turn when Tommy and his friends get lost in the woods with a pack of crazy monkeys.

The Rugrats Movie’s premiere in theaters defied the odds when the film became one of the highest-grossing animated movies based on a television series and the first non-Disney animated movie to rake in over $100 million at the domestic box office. Naturally, the film spawned two sequels, Rugrats in Paris: The Movie and Rugrats Go Wild, and furthered the success of the series. Soon, our favorite babies will return, but first relive the nostalgia of the first movie this month.
