Julia Garner, star of Netflix’s Ozark, took home the Emmy for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series.

Star of the Netflix original series Ozark, Julia Garner won the Emmy for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series. During her acceptance speech, she started talking about, you guessed it, chocolate and how she wished the award was made of chocolate so she could share it with the rest of the Ozark team.

Being a chocoholic, I can understand the sentiment, although if I’m not sure about the sharing part. It is totally understandable about Garner’s excitement winning her first Emmy in her first nomination. She worked hard for it and totally deserves to bask in the fruits of her hard work.

In the series, Garner portrays character Ruth Langmore, a smart, sassy woman who comes from a poor family and lives in a trailer on the outskirts of the small town and vacation destination. Her father, Cade Langmore, is in prison at the start of the series and is the motivation for Ruth willing to do anything to get ahead. After a rough start with Martin Bryde, she eventually goes to work for him.

More from Ozark

In 2017, Garner was only 23 years old when she starred in the first season of the series, but she took on the character like a more seasoned actress and imbued her character with such a larger than life personality. Garner quickly became the fans’ favorite character in the series, and she delivered an incredible performance in season 2.

And, it took an incredible performance to best Game of Thrones’ Lena Headey, Gwendoline Christie, Sophie Turner and Maisie Williams, as well as Killing Eve’s Fiona Shaw, for her first Emmy.

Garner has also appeared in Dirty John, The Perks of Being a Wallflower, Grandma, and We Are What We Are, Electrick Children and Sin City: A Dame to Kill For. You can also catch her off and on in the hit FX series The Americans, which ended last year.

Garner will be back for Ozark season 3! If you want to see this amazing actress in action, both seasons of Ozark is currently streaming on Netflix.
