Julia Garner and Jason Bateman, stars of the Netflix original series Ozark, won the Emmy in the Drama Catagories.

Ozark stars Julia Garner and Jason Bateman won Emmys in their respective categories at the 71st Annual Emmys!

Garner of won the Emmy for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series. Garner stars as Ruth Langmore, who is easily the fan-favorite of the entire show.

The Outstanding Supporting Actress win is Garner’s first Emmy in her first time nominated for an Emmy, which is pretty crazy considering how good she has been in Ozark and in the now-finished series The Americans.

Garner was in one of the most stacked categories this year, Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series. There were four Game of Thrones actresses in the category, including Lena Headey, Maisie Williams, Sophie Turner, and Gwendoline Christie, along with Fiona Shaw of Killing Eve.

I thought Garner had a good chance to win the award after her incredible performance in Ozark season 2, but with Game of Thrones ending, there was a good chance the academy would pick one of the Game of Thrones stars. I wasn’t the only one who thought that would happen.

Overall, I think the academy got it right!

Here is the official announcement, via the Television Academy:

Bateman, who stars as Marty Byrde, the lead in the Netflix series, won the Emmy for Outstanding Directing for a Drama Series. Bateman was also nominated for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series.

Garner and Bateman weren’t the only Netflix stars to win an Emmy in the major categories. Jharrel Jerome of When They See Us won the Emmy for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Limited Series.

Garner and Bateman will be back for Ozark season 3. Unfortunately, we don’t know when the new season of the series will be available to stream on Netflix. There was hope it would be released on the streaming service this fall, but it’s looking more likely that Ozark season 3 will be released on Netflix in 2020.

Stay tuned for more news about Ozark and its third season on Netflix!
