6. Raising Dion

Premiere date: Oct. 4

Michael B. Jordan has been an unstoppable force in the past several years, and he doesn’t even need to be in front of the camera to wow viewers. This fall, fans can find him over at Netflix in the drama-thriller, Raising Dion, as more than a star in the series. Here’s why you’ll want to watch it!

The journey to creating the series is very interesting and has involved Jordan from the start. Raising Dion is based on the comic book by Dennis Liu of the same name only published a few years back in 2015. The story follows a single mom raising a young boy who develops superhuman abilities. Liu wished to make a short film from her books, which Jordan checked out and was instantly a fan.

Even before Fantastic Four and Black Panther, Jordan has been a superhero fan and felt he had to do something with this story. Jordan worked some magic and acquired the right to the story to develop a Netflix series. An official trailer has dropped for the series and we’re more excited than ever. Check it out for yourself, above.

Jordan will portray Dion’s father, but as you’ve already read the synopsis (and seen the trailer), he won’t be around for long. Instead, Jordan serves as the producer. Starring in the series is Ja’siah Young, who’ll portray Dion and Alisha Wainwright, who takes on the role of Nicole, Dion’s mother.

When an organization begins to hunt for her son after learning about his abilities, Nicole does all she can to keep him safe, but begins to suspect there too much mystery surrounding the death of her husband. Could Dion’s father have known about his powers? If so, is that why he’s dead?

Watch season 1, which is set to consist of 10 episodes, of Raising Dion Oct. 4 only on Netflix!
