14. The Witcher

Premiere date: Late fall

The Witcher is one of the most anticipated shows on Netflix. It not only features a star-studded cast, but the upcoming fantasy drama has often been compared as Netflix’s own Game of Thrones. And, after watching the teaser trailer, I think you’ll agree it has similar vibes. What’s it all about, what can you expect, and when will The Witcher premiere? Here’s what we know so far.

The Witcher is an 8-episode drama fantasy series based on Andrzej Sapowski’s novel of the same name. The story follows Geralt of Rivia, a monster hunter with supernatural powers they call the Witcher. The Witcher is helmed by Lauren Schmidt Hissrich (Dardevil), who brought in directors Alik Sakharov (Game of Thrones) and Charlotte Brandstrom (Outlander).

Need more star power?  As if The Witcher needs more talented people behind it, the series is set to star Henry Cavill (Superman) as the lead role. Needless to say, we’re definitely looking forward to this one!

If you’re finding yourself missing HBO’s hit drama Game of Thrones, you may find your replacement in Netflix’s The Witcher. That is, until HBO releases its rumored GoT spin-offs.

The Witcher also stars Freya Allan, who’ll take on the role of Ciri, princess of Cintra, Jodhi May as Queen Calanthe, Anya Chalotra as Yennefer and Adam Levy as Mousesack. We’re not sure when in the books the series will pick up, but look forward to learning more in the near future once Netflix gives us more details and full-length trailer! The Witcher is rumored to arrive in Dec., but we’ll keep you posted on an exact date!
