It’s been a little over five years since The Office ended its run on NBC but fans are still talking about the show. One topic that’s come up recently is where the documentary crew would be today.

The series finale of The Office pretty much gave every character a happy ending with most of the documentary’s subjects moving on to new lives elsewhere. A few characters, however, kept true to themselves and remained in Scranton, Pennsylvania for more of the same adventures.

What’s of interest now is how life has changed for the cast and crew since the documentary aired. There’s no way to say for certain, but based on how the finale wrapped up, we have a few ideas on where they’d be five years later. Keep in mind that Jenna Fischer and Angela Kinsey might have more concrete information in their upcoming The Office podcast.

The Halperts

For one, Pam (Jenna Fischer) and Jim (John Krasinski) moving to Austin for Athleap’s development is of great intrigue. They decided on the big move at the last moment and it’s unclear if the decision worked out for them. Jim and Pam were having marital problems up to that point so things could’ve gone either way for them.

In all likelihood, Pam and Jim worked through the rough patch of their marriage. They experienced some difficulty with major life decisions but Jim and Pam always seemed destined to end up together, evidenced by the storied romance they shared throughout most of the series.

Dwight Schrute and Angela Martin Schrute

Dwight (Rainn Wilson) running Dunder-Mifflin is another plot thread that was left on a somewhat open end. He and Angela (Angela Kinsey) finally tied the knot in the series finale, along with Dwight becoming office manager. Some fans might assume Dwight would foul things up right away but he kept it running for at least a year, which means he’s capable of maintaining the position.

More from The Office

There is, however, a chance that Dwight chose to leave the office life behind of his own volition. Dwight was set to assume control of his aunt’s farm at some point but nothing ever happened on that end. Of course, now that he and Angela are married, they may choose to work exclusively on the farm. Angela isn’t the type to get her hands dirty but childrearing is right up her alley. Plus, she’s extremely traditional and devoted to family values.

Kevin Malone

Kevin Malone (Brian Baumgartner) was running his own bar at the series’ end but his past issues with math and simple logic worry us. That doesn’t mean he’s destined to fail but one mistake could’ve very easily shut his bar down, and by all accounts, that seems quite plausible.

If Kevin were to be fired, he’d likely resort to asking Dwight for a job again. His request could be problematic since Kevin isn’t a good accountant but who’s to say Dwight can’t find him a position more suited for his talents. Then again, that’s a task in and of itself.

Daryl Philbin

Fans wondering about Daryl (Craig Robinson) probably assume he’s still working for Athleap which is a reasonable expectation to have. Daryl was extremely enthusiastic about the company since its’ start so it goes to reason that he stuck with them. Jim, being an integral member of the company, would’ve also given Daryl another reason to stay on.
