4. What if the dead Avengers returned as zombies?

During the announcement for Marvel’s What If? at SDCC (San Diego Comic-Con), eagle-eyed fans noticed that the logo contained some interesting graphics behind the text. In the red shading, glimpses at zombie versions of Captain America and Iron Man can be seen. These have driven speculation around the possibility of an episode revolving around their resurrection. The question is: How?

It’s difficult to say how the dead heroes would be brought back as zombies, though a magical spell seems like the most feasible explanation. There’s also a chance that the elements from the comics could be incorporated into the aforementioned episode.

In the comics, the zombie heroes awaken after a plague washes over the planet. They then go on a rampage of spreading the infection to as many people as possible. The same could feasibly happen to the MCU if a crazed scientist were to do the same, and we all know there’s no shortage of mad scientists in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

3. What if Jane Foster found Thor’s Hammer?

Since Thor: Love And Thunder will see the mantle passed from the God of Thunder to Jane Foster (Natalie Portman), this may be a good opportunity for Disney Plus to feature an animated episode of Jane becoming Thor’s successor. And the premise wouldn’t have to differ much from the comic adaptation entitled “What If Jane Foster Had Found The Hammer Of Thor?”.

In that comic line, Jane Foster finds Thor’s hammer and helps defend Asgard from an alien invasion. Afterward, she’s promoted to a goddess and then subsequently passes it on to Thor when he’s deemed worthy.

If Disney were to adapt this issue, the What If? writing team would have to get a little creative with the timeline but not by much. Perhaps they could give fans a look at Jane Foster finding Mjolnir after Steve Rogers returns it to the past in Avengers: Endgame.

The Thor of Thor: The Dark World would’ve presumably been searching for it during Malekith’s attack but maybe Jane will find the hammer first. She wouldn’t normally lift it but if Jane found the artifact just sitting in a random hallway, her curiosity might get the better of her.

In doing so, Jane would probably harness the God of Thunder’s power by merely lifting it up over her head.
