The Umbrella Academy season 2 adds three new cast members

Netflix’s The Umbrella Academy has added three new cast members for season 2. Ritu Arya, Yusef Gatewood, and Marin Ireland star in the new season.

Netflix has added three new cast members for The Umbrella Academy season 2. According to a report from Deadline, Marin Ireland, Ritu Arya, and Yusef Gatewood will star in the new season of the Netflix original series.

We don’t know a lot about their characters, but we do know who they will be playing. Arya stars as Lila, while Gatewood and Ireland will play Raymond and Sissy, according to the report. These characters are not from the comics of which the show is based on by Gerard Way and Gabriel Ba.

The whole dysfunctional Hargreeves crew will be back as well, so we will be seeing Luthor (Tom Hopper), Diego (David Castaneda), Allison (Emmy Raver-Lampman), Klaus (Robert Sheehan), Number Five (Aiden Gallagher), Ben (Justin Min), and Vanya (Ellen Page) again.

Season 1 spoilers below! 

The question is… in which time, as season 1 ended with Number Five teleporting everyone back in time, in an attempt to change the events of Earth’s apocalyptic demise caused by their sister, Vanya. In the present, she managed to destroy the moon which in turn killed our planet from the moon’s fragments falling to the earth.

Number Five’s quick thinking by teleporting everyone back to their teenage years might save the earth if they can work together in stopping her. Season 2 will premiere at that point in history’s time where we will be introduced to the three new characters. The ensuing episodes will expand on what their roles will be in stopping Vanya’s destructive plans for the earth and if they can stop her.

Netflix is being extremely tight-lipped about what will happen in The Umbrella Academy season 2. However, we can ascertain that with the addition of Arya, Gatewood, and Ireland to the series as regulars. It sounds like they will be eventually joining forces with our other intrepid heroes in trying to stop Vanya.

Hopefully, we won’t have to wait too long to find out what happens to our young group of ‘misfits’ in their endeavors to save planet earth. Although season 2 does not have a release date yet, filming has been set to begin in Toronto this summer, according to the report.
