In Stranger Things 3, Robin calls Steve Harrington a “dingus” four times over the course of the season.

Robin, played by Maya Hawke, is easily one of the breakout stars of Stranger Things 3. Throughout the season, fans fell in love with her charm, wit, strength and the way she called Steve Harrington a “dingus” over the course of the season.

I don’t know why I found Robin and Steve’s relationship and interactions so endearing, but it was one of my favorite parts of the season. I can’t wait to see what’s next for these friends in Stranger Things 4, and I still hope Robin is calling him “dingus.”

I re-watched Stranger Things 3 and tallied all the times Robin said the term “dingus” in the new season. By my unofficial count, Robin says it four times over the course of the season, including her first line of the series.

And, you can see that below, via Stranger Things Twitter account.

“Hey, dingus, your children are here!”

Robin’s first line in Stranger Things 3 is iconic! It happens a few minutes into the first episode, “Chapter One: Suzie, Do You Copy?”

After Mike leaves Eleven’s house, he meets up with Will, Lucas and Max at the Starcourt Mall. The kids make a beeline for Scoops Ahoy where Robin and Steve are working. Mike taps the bell aggressively, and Robin calls out to “dingus” who is working in the back.

From there, Steve lets the kids sneak through the backdoor into the movie theater so they can watch George Romero’s Day of the Dead.

It’s the perfect introduction to Robin, and immediately, we get a glimpse into her relationship with Steve.

“That was Pig Latin, dingus.”

In “Chapter Two: The Mall Rats,” Dustin and Steve are trying their hardest to break the Russian code that Dustin intercepted. Luckily, Robin is there to help.

She tells them she can speak four languages and even gives them a little hint of what they think is Russian. Seconds later, she informs them that it was actually Pig Latin, which proves they are drastically underqualified to crack this code.

“No, dingus, it’s 500!”

More from Stranger Things

There are several episodes in a row where we don’t hear Robin call Steve a “dingus,” unfortunately. Luckily, she starts to use it more frequently near the end of the season.

In “Chapter Seven: The Bite,” Dustin and Erica rescue a very high Robin and Steve from the Russians. The Russians were about to torture them so it was perfect timing.

After they break out of the room, they speed down the long hallway in the little cart. Dustin drives a little recklessly, and that makes Robin say, “What is this, the Indy 500?” And, then Steve, obviously wrong, corrects her and says it’s the “Indy 300.”

During their ensuing argument, that’s when Robin drops the next “dingus!”

“All right, you have to understand, Keith, I know his taste is a bit pedestrian, but dingus has other qualities.”

The last time we hear Robin refer to Steve as “dingus” is in the final episode of the season, “Chapter Eight: The Battle of Starcourt.”

After the Hawkins Heroes beat the Mind Flayer and drive the Russians back to, well, Russia, the mall is basically destroyed and shut down. That means Steve and Robin have to find new jobs, and they stop by Family Video looking for just that.

Unfortunately, Keith, the former employee of the arcade, is now the manager of Family Video, and he doesn’t like Steve. It appears they have some history that dates back to high school. After Steve fails the “movie test,” Robin decides to go to bat for “dingus” and tries to convince Keith to give him a job.

Overall, Robin is very convincing. She claims the girls will come to the store just to see Steve, which we know is probably not true at this point after watching him strike out so many times at Scoops Ahoy. It works, and they get hired at Family Video!

And, that’s the last time we see Steve called a “dingus” in Stranger Things 3!

For me, I’m partial to Robin’s first line in the series. It was the perfect introduction to her, and it brought many of our favorite characters together for the first time in the new season.
