Remember way back in the day when all of our favorite animated films would have random direct-to-video sequels that weren’t really canon but were ultimately fun? Well, that’s not necessarily a lost art in 2019. Norm of the North, a middling animated film from 2016, has somehow managed to launch a franchise of direct-to-video sequels. The latest of those sequels, Norm of the North: King Sized Adventure, comes to Netflix this month as one of the best new Netflix movies perfect for the littlest binge-watchers in your life to enjoy over and over.

North of the North: King Sized Adventure takes Norm on his wildest adventure yet as he embarks on a worldwide journey to recover a stolen Chinese artifact. When the artifact is snatched by an archaeologist with a villainous streak named Dexter, Norm calls on his lemming friends to stay true to his word and locate the artifact. The film diverges from the plot of the original film and features almost none of the voice cast, but Norm’s continued globe-trotting adventures are still a lot of fun for the whole family.

Norm of the North: King Sized Adventure follows the 2016 original film, which was released to mostly negative reviews (the film briefly held the rare 0% rating on Rotten Tomatoes) and a middling box office return as well as the 2018 sequel Norm of the North: Keys to the Kingdom. Another sequel, Norm of the North: Family Vacation is slated for a home video release this fall, while a fifth film has already been put in development. Don’t miss the king-sized adventure when it hits Netflix on Sept. 9.
