Even though it’s one of the less exciting months of Netflix new release, there’s still plenty of watchable content coming in September, especially for the little ones. They may not be getting any of the latest Disney movies or any major animated franchises, but there’s lots of funny characters (mostly animals) and wild stories arriving to keep them company on their tablets. While this month brings Norm of the North’s latest adventure and an interesting guy named Igor, a snail named Turbo also races into your watch list in one of the best new Netflix movies.

Ryan Reynolds voices the title character of Turbo, a garden snail who’s obsessed with speed. Isn’t that ironic? Turbo has one dream, and it’s to become the world’s best racer. As a result of a strange accident, Turbo finds he’s been given the gift of speed, which allows his the ability to leave his slow-paced life in the dust. Once he enters the Indianapolis 500, Turbo seeks to win the whole thing with the help of his pit crew andf fervor that won’t let his limitations set him back.

Turbo comes from director David Soren, who also directed Captain Underpants: The First Epic Movie and worked on such films as Shrek and Shark Tale. Upon release, the film received mostly positive reception from critics, earning a 67% score on Rotten Tomatoes. Even though Turbo seemingly struggled to make a profit at the box office, the film was turned into a Netflix original series Turbo Fast, which premiered the same year. Turbo returns to Netflix as a companion to the animated series when it begins streaming on Sept. 12.
