Are you looking for a little something to close out your summer binge-watches before the new season brings all your favorite shows back and monopolizes your attention for months? Well, Netflix always gets the last word. Before debuting its fall kickoff and our No. 1 show on this list (no spoilers), Netflix drops a summer delight right under the wire. The I-Land premieres as a quintessential summer series, but it’s by far one of the best new Netflix shows coming in September.

The I-Land follows a group of 10 people who suddenly wake up on an island without any idea who they are or how they have ended up on this most treacherous of islands. Naturally, they attempt to find a way back home, wherever home might be for these people who don’t appear to know who they are, but they soon discover that the island has many psychological and physical challenges in store, which will force them to become their best selves to avoid certain death. The series stars Kate Bosworth (who also produces), Natalie Martinez, Alex Pettyfer and Kyle Schmid.

The I-Land comes from creator Neil LaBute, who also created SyFy’s hit series Van Helsing and directed a number of films. The series has been tagged as a miniseries, which seemingly promises a satisfying binge-watch without an open-ended cliffhanger ending. But you never know with television series these days, The I-Land could leave storylines unresolved and return for a second season if the first seven episodes emerge as a popular new title. At any rate, mark your calendars for summer’s final treat when The I-Land debuts on Sep.t. 12.
