We’ve all been waiting with bated breath for Ryan Murphy’s debut on Netflix after making a huge deal with the streamer to produce his next series on the platform. Just as the prolific producer unveils the latest season of American Horror Story on his previous home of FX, Murphy’s first series for Netflix arrives in the form of the comedy-drama satire The Politician. Before it’s even premiered, the series has already received tons of buzz, and it’s shaping up to be one of the next great Netflix shows that you won’t want to miss this month — or ever.

Ben Platt leads The Politician as the titular politician Payton Hobart, a student dead-set on winning the student body president race at his prestigious Santa Barbara high school. But the Saint Sebastian president race will send Payton into Tracy Flick territory and beyond as his follows his aspirations of becoming the next President of the United States. The series has been developed as an anthology to center on a different political race Payton finds himself in with each proceeding season.

The Politician comes from the team behind handfuls of fan-favorite series such as American Horror Story, Glee, Pose, Scream Queens, and Popular (among others), with the latest entry in the Murphy canon seeming to pull inspiration from each hit before it. The series also stars Gwyneth Paltrow, Jessica Lange, Zoey Deutch and Lucy Boynton, and boasts guest-starring roles from Dylan McDermott, January Jones, Bette Midler, and Judith Light. The Politician will definitely have your vote when it makes its splashy premiere on Sept. 27.
