The devil is returning for the fifth and final season of Lucifer on Netflix. Here’s what you need to know about the new season.

When Netflix picked up Lucifer after Fox abandoned it, all of us thought the show is finally going to get the treatment it deserves and the streaming site will give us with many more seasons. Netflix announced the fifth season of the series, which is already in the works will be the final season of the show.

The recently released season 4, which was the show’s first Netflix original series, was so well received by the audience that it shattered viewing records and became one of the most-watched shows on the network. Unfortunately, the show will still end after one more season.

Here’s what we know about the final season of Lucifer:

When is Lucifer season 5 coming to Netflix?

Soon after season 4 came out Lucifer was renewed by Netflix for another season in June.

Writing and production started shortly after, and showrunner Ildy Modrovich posted some snaps from the writer’s room. Keeping in mind that the show is still in production, we believe Lucifer season 5 will be out in the spring of 2020.

That has not been confirmed, but Netflix will likely release new episodes before the end of May 2020. That’s one year after season 4 was released on the streaming service.

Who is returning?

The devil, of course, will be back, and he has been training hard. Ever since the renewal was announced, Tom Ellis has been sharing videos of himself working out on his Instagram trying to get back in shape and work on those abs for the show.

Other than Ellis, almost everybody is returning too. Lauren German, Kevin Alejandro, DB Woodside, Lesley-Ann Brandt, Scarlett Estevez, Rachael Harris and Aimee Garcia are all coming back to reprise their respective roles for the fifth and final installment.

You can also bet there will be a new face or two in Lucifer season 5!

What is season 5 about?

Since it is the finale, season 5 will address all the loose ends. Also, if you are expecting something, the season is going to be totally different, too wild for you to imagine.

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Modrovich revealed that the team is brainstorming hard to put season 5 together and they are trying to go crazy with the finale and do something nobody can think of.

How many episodes will be in Lucifer season 5?

At first, the season was announced to have 10 episodes. That seems to be the new normal for Netflix. Originally, they were doing 13-episode seasons for many of their original shows, but lately, they’ve been settling for 10-episode seasons. Lucifer season 4 also consisted of 10 episodes.

Netflix later increased it to 16 episodes, which is still less than all the other seasons, other than season 4. We have not heard if the season will be split into two eight-episode parts.

Can we save Lucifer?

From Tom Ellis to the showrunners, everybody has already promised an unforgettable finale hinting that there is no hope for fans to save Lucifer.

Detective Chloe wants us all to keep fighting the fight. She took to her Twitter telling that if the fans want a season 6, they should make themselves heard.

So, like Lauren said, if you want it, let everybody know! #SaveLucifer

Is there a trailer?

We don’t have a trailer yet but Lucifer‘s official account did release a poster of season 5.
