Gotham season 5 is finally coming to Netflix next month
The fifth and final season of Fox’s dark crime drama Gotham is finally coming to Netflix this September.
Fans of DC and crime, one of your favorite shows has a Netflix release date! It’s been a REALLY long time, we know, but hey, at least it is finally happening. Gotham season 5 is all set to land on Netflix next month, Sept 30 to be exact.
Starring the faces we love: Ben McKenzie, Donal Logue, David Mazouz, Morena Baccarin, Sean Pertwee, Robin Lord Taylor, Erin Richards, Camren Bicondova, Cory Michael Smith, Jessica Lucas and Chris Chalk, the fifth and FINAL season of the dark crime drama premiered on Fox earlier this year on Jan. 3 and ended on April 25, featuring a total of only 12 episodes when all the other seasons have had 22 episodes so far.
Titled Legend of the Dark Knight, the season received positive reviews from both fans and critics, receiving an impressive rating of 85% on Rotten Tomatoes. Still, for some reason, the showrunners have canceled the show and it makes little to no sense.
It is unfair how the final season has such fewer episodes but are they worth it? Does season 5 serve as a great conclusion to the longtime series? Guess we’ll find out once Gotham lands on Netflix.
As far as the plot of the final season is concerned, we’ll tell you what the producer of the show Danny Cannon said. He has described season 5 as a ‘reboot’ of the whole franchise which ‘changes’ a lot of things after season 4’s finale and makes Gotham look like an entirely different show, as reported by Digital Spy. Well, okay.
With season 5’s 12 episodes, Gotham‘s final episode count has reached 100, which is a very satisfying number but then again, there is still so much they could have done with the show. Maybe we will get a spin-off in the future? Only time will tell.
In the meantime, go get your DC crime fix of the year and catch Gotham‘s finale on Netflix this Sept 30. All other seasons are already streaming on the service.
