Ms. Marvel is coming to Disney Plus! According to a new report, a Kamala Khan/Ms. Marvel live-action TV series is in the work for the Disney streaming service.

There’s a Ms. Marvel live-action series in the works at Disney Plus, according to a report from The Hollywood Reporter. This is the news Ms. Marvel fans have been waiting for a long time to hear!

Kamala Khan, also known as Ms. Marvel, will be Marvel’s first Muslim superhero. For those who don’t know, Khan is a Pakistani-American teenager living in Jersey City. She has the power to shapeshift, basically.

I don’t know how they’ll adapt Ms. Marvel’s powers for the screen, but I imagine it will look like a combination of Ant-Man’s powers and the powers of Ralph Dibney on The Flash. That’s just my guess at this time.

Bisha K. Ali, who worked on Hulu’s Four Weddings and a Funeral, has been tapped to develop the series, according to the report.

Unfortunately, we don’t know much more about the series than that at this point. Marvel, officially, had no comment on The Hollywood Reporter report. We’re expecting Marvel and Disney to make the news official at D23 2019, which is currently taking place in Anaheim.

Ms. Marvel was created by Sana Amanat, Stephen Wacker, G. Willow Wilson, Adrian Alphona and Jamie McKelvie. Khan was introduced in Captain Marvel #14 in 2013 and had her own run starting with Ms. Marvel: No Normal in 2014. Ms. Marvel Vol. 10: Time and Time Again was released earlier this year.

It’s unclear if Ms. Marvel will be added to the movies side of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but I’d say it seems pretty likely. All the other Disney Plus-Marvel shows will tie into the MCU at some point, and it would be a mistake in Ms. Marvel was not a part of that world, as well. Plus, Jersey City isn’t that far from New York City! She’s like right around the corner from the Avengers!

Many fans will obviously make the connection with Ms. Marvel and Captain Marvel. Hopefully, Brie Larson will make an appearance in Ms. Marvel. That would be so awesome!

This is incredible news for fans of Ms. Marvel! Kamala Khan is one of the best new-ish heroes in the Marvel world, and I can’t wait to see her stories brought to life on screen. It’s about time there was a Muslim superhero in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
