When is Mindhunter season 3 coming to Netflix? Netflix has not announced the renewal yet, but after a great second season, we should find out more information soon!

After a lengthy, two-year wait for the second season of Netflix’s popular show Mindhunter, it finally came on to the streaming service on Aug. 16. Fans can’t wait to find out more information about Mindhunter season 3.

The show has gathered a sort of cult following since its premiere back in 2017, and loyal fans didn’t hesitate to begin watching the new episodes as soon as it dropped on the streaming service. Now the only question on everyone’s mind is: when is season 3 coming to Netflix?

At the time of publishing, Netflix has not announced the renewal of Mindhunter yet.

During an interview with Pop Culture, Holt McCallany had this to say about the fate of the show:

"“I don’t think anybody knows right now, in August of 2019, exactly what lies in store for Holden and Bill, and Wendy,” he said. “We are hopeful that we will get to do the whole five seasons because the audience seems to have really responded to the show, people really like the show.”"

While it may not sound as optimistic as a confirmed third season would be, Mindhunter is a very popular show. Netflix almost always renews their most popular shows for new seasons, and Mindhunter is definitely in that category.

Assuming Mindhunter is renewed for season 3, we should expect it to drop between 18-24 months from the season 2 premiere if it follows the same pattern for the release of season 1 to season 2.

It may sound like a long wait, but according to a recent cast interview with Collider, David Fincher wants to bring viewers the best quality they can. That’s why making season 2 took so much longer than other Netflix shows, and as an audience that’s all we ever really want. We have to imagine that will probably happen with season 3, and we have to think Netflix will allow Fincher and the writers to take their time with this series.
