New on Netflix this week: Gangs of New York, Hyperdrive, and more
A new week means plenty of new on Netflix including an Oscar-nominated movie, a new reality show, and a comedy special. Check out the full list here.
With a new week around the corner, that also means lots of new on Netflix to look forward to. This week you can look out for an Oscar-nominated movie, a special from a British comedian, and a driving tournament where street racers are tasked with testing out one of the largest obstacle courses ever.
Gangs of New York starring Leonardo DiCaprio, Cameron Diaz, and Daniel Day-Lewis hits Netflix on Aug 20. The film takes place in 1862 and starts with Amsterdam Vallon, played by DiCaprio, returning to Five Points in New York City to plan his revenge against Bill the Butcher (Day-Lewis) who murdered his father. The film is directed by Martin Scorsese and was nominated for 10 Oscars in 2003
But if you’re more in the mood for a laugh, you may want to check out Simon Amstell’s new special, Set Free. Amstell covers love, ego, intimacy, and death in his 51 minute set. This is Amstell’s second comedy special for Netflix but it still features his introspective, (sometimes too) honest style. It comes to Netflix Aug. 20.
If you’re more in the mood for cars and a reality show, you need to check out Netflix’s Hyperdrive on Aug 21. The show features street racers from all over the world test their unique cars on the biggest car automotive obstacle course in the world. The driver who can make it to the end becomes the Hyperdrive champion. Check out the trailer here.
