Turns out, Tobias Menzies wasn’t joking when he teased that the season we all are desperately waiting for is coming soon. The Crown is confirmed to return this November on Netflix!

After a whirlwind of rumors, teasers, and fans’ conspiracy theories, it has FINALLY been confirmed that Netflix’s historical drama The Crown is indeed returning later this year, Nov. 17 to be exact. Mark your calendars and prepare for some royal action!

Even though the star of the show Tobias Menzies previously revealed in an interview with BBC that the show drops in November, it has now been confirmed by Netflix itself. The official Twitter handle of The Crown has released a small teaser as well with Olivia Colman starring as Queen Elizabeth II.

According to Entertainment Weekly, the third installment of the Royal drama is replacing the familiar faces of season one and two aka Claire Foy, Matt Smith, and Vanessa Kirby by Olivia Colman as the Queen, Tobias Menzies as Prince Philip, and Helena Bonham Carter as Princess Margaret.

The other cast members include the likes of Antony Armstrong-Jones, Charles Dance, Marion Bailey, Josh O’Connor, Erin Doherty, and Jason Watkins. The cast change, however, doesn’t come as a surprise as Peter Morgan, the creator of the show previously talked about it saying that the cast will change in Season 3 and then again in Season 5. So, there’s a Season 5???

Yes. In fact, Season 3 and 4 of The Crown were being shot simultaneously earlier this year!

“We’re doing them back-to-back. I’m writing them all at the moment,” Morgan said at a BAFTA Masterclass, as reported by Variety.

So, even though we all had to wait this long for Season 3, the good news is, the fourth one might come out earlier than you think! The Crown Season 3 will carry on the royal events forward, but sadly, fans of Princess Diana still have to wait some more as she will still not appear in the upcoming season. Season 3 will take us back to 1964 and wrap up by 1976. Diana will be introduced in Season 4 and played by Emma Corrin if we are to take casting director Nina Gold‘s word for it!

In Season 3, a grand royal wedding awaits you! Will you be watching The Crown Season 3 when  premieres Nov. 17?
