By Paul Zuniga
Today’s episode of Fear The Walking Dead kicked off the second half of Season 5 by introducing fans to a new character played by Colby Hollman. Continue reading for more details.
Word of new cast members joining season five of Fear The Walking Dead took many fans by surprise when the castings were announced at San Diego Comic-Con 2019. One of those actors was Colby Hollman. Details regarding his character role weren’t revealed at the event but now we know a bit more about Hollman’s character.
Warning! Spoilers for the latest episodes of Fear The Walking Dead follow.
Before going any further, the one thing we don’t know about Hollman’s character is his name. When he’s introduced in Season 5, Episode 9 “Channel 4” the young man doesn’t say his name once. Hollman’s character doesn’t even take the time to introduce himself when Logan (Matt Frewer) shows up with his crew.
Most characters on FTWD and TWD usually say their name at least once but not Hollman. Keep in mind that it may be a new tactic being utilized by AMC to keep character arcs secret. The network kept all hints about Isabelle (Sydney Lemmon) hidden before her auspicious debut so it’s not farfetched to suggest the same is being done for Colby Hollman.
Whatever the case may be, Hollman’s character seemingly has an important role to play in the coming episodes. The mid-season premiere concluded with Hollman holding a radio used to contact Morgan (Lennie James) and the others but it’s unclear if he’ll actually use it.

While we don’t know much about the character Hollman is playing, he didn’t seem too enthusiastic about joining Morgan’s crusade. He heard everything said on the radio, he just didn’t want to be a part of it. Hollman even takes a sly jab at Morgan’s mission when Logan points out that their philanthropic endeavors are making them more enemies than friends.
The interesting thing is that Logan might be right about their mission. Hollman’s character obviously wasn’t too happy with them destroying his bike and Morgan is partially responsible. Had he not been mistaken for one of their friends, Hollman would’ve gone on his way without ever having to speak with Logan. Of course, now he has to call for help or face being torn apart by walkers.
What did you think of Colby Hollman’s introduction? And where do you think he’ll stand in the conflict between Logan and Morgan? Let us know in the comments section below.
