Disney unveiled a new streaming bundle that includes Disney Plus, Hulu, and ESPN Plus for only $13 per month.
Disney is changing the streaming industry with a new deal for would-be subscribers. The House of Mouse just announced plans to unveil a streaming bundle that includes Disney Plus, Hulu and ESPN Plus for only $12.99 per month, according to a report from The Verge.
Yes, that’s the same price as your “standard” Netflix subscription. It’s $3 per month less than Netflix’s most expensive plan.
Disney CEO Bob Iger announced the plan during an earnings call with investors, according to the report.
Disney Plus, which is Disney’s new streaming service, will offer new exclusive shows and movies, along with the vast library that includes all Marvel, Pixar, and Star Wars projects, as well. The new streaming service launches in the United States on Nov. 12, 2019, and it will cost $6.99 per month or only $69.99 for the year.
With this new bundle, you can add a Hulu subscription and ESPN Plus subscription for about $6 per month. That’s going to save you some money, if you want to subscribe to Hulu or ESPN Plus. Those subscriptions alone cost $11 per month, combined, so you’re saving about $60 per year with that new bundle.
Comparatively speaking, this is a deal most streaming services can’t beat. As mentioned, Netflix’s middle pricing tier is the same price as this bundle. The new streaming service from Warner Media and AT&T, known as HBO Max, is expected to cost almost $17 per month, according to the report.
Disney’s bundle is super enticing. It offers cord-cutters that chance to save a little money. As more corporations enter the streaming wars, it’s going to get more expensive, so this is a great opportunity for cord-cutters to continue getting quality entertainment at a lower price.
The problem here is obvious, though. As we have seen with Netflix, these streaming service subscriptions can’t stay this low forever. Eventually, these streaming services will be needing to make money, and that’s going to be tough at these low prices.
My guess is that Disney’s streaming bundle will not stay this low forever, just like Hulu’s streaming subscription can’t stay this low forever. Eventually, Disney needs to make money, and that’s why they are investing so much money and time into this now. They need to bring Netflix down a little bit and separate themselves from Amazon Prime Video, Apple’s streaming service, HBO Max, and all the others.
This subscription will become more expensive, but it’s great to take advantage of it right now if you can.
Remember, Disney Plus launches on Nov. 12. There are tons of new shows and movies being made for the streaming service, including Star Wars: The Mandalorian and a bunch of Marvel shows, including Loki and more.
