Will Orange is the New Black be back for season 8?

Will Netflix renew Orange is the New Black season 8? Unfortunately, season 7 was the final season of the hit Netflix original series.

Orange is the New Black season 7 premiered on Netflix on Friday, July 26. After binge-watching the season, some fans might be wondering if Orange is the New Black will be renewed for season 8.

Unfortunately, we have some bad news to share on that front. Orange is the New Black will not be returning for season 8. The seventh season will be the final season of the series.

Orange is the New Black was renewed for three seasons (5, 6 and 7) several years ago, and at the time, it was assumed that season 7 would be the end of the series. As it got closer to that seventh season, after season 6, Netflix announced the seventh season would, in fact, be the show’s final season.

I prefer when Netflix and other networks let the fans know when a show is ending before the season comes out. Netflix has been okay about it lately, with Orange is the New Black, Trinkets, and, of course, Lucifer. Fans, then, have time to process it and prepare for the series to end. It’s much harder on fans when shows are just canceled.

I don’t really know how to feel about Orange is the New Black ending. I’m sad because I’ll miss this series, but the fifth and sixth seasons didn’t really live up to the hype for me. They missed the mark a little bit, and that caused a little bit of a lull. That was erased with season 7.

The writers put together an amazing series finale season, and it made me really miss the early days of this show. They nailed each ending and gave the viewers plenty of closure. Many of these stories will live on in the world of this story, but it’d probably have been a mistake to force these stories on into the future.

Orange is the New Black was one of the first Netflix shows I watched. It was Netflix’s first original series, and it truly changed the game for the streaming network. It showed they had a chance to start making great original content, and it set the stage for all the great Netflix programming being made today.
