Ryan Murphy has finally spilled the beans about the highly anticipated season of American Horror Story in a series of teasers which will take you back to the ’80s.

The wait is almost over! The longest and the most successful horror anthology show ever made, American Horror Story is all set to return with yet another powerful season and this time, it is going back to its horror roots!

American Horror Story season 9, which is titled 1984, premieres on FX on Sept. 18.

The show which kicked off with a terrifying Murder House but barely survived the Apocalypse in the last installment is making a comeback with AHS: 1984, a season dedicated to the ’80s, camps and slasher villains, which producer Tim Minear claims is going to be a treat for horror fans.

As far as the cast is concerned, in a series of small teasers on Instagram, Ryan Murphy has officially unveiled who is returning and who is not. Emma Roberts, Cody Fern, Leslie Grossman and Billie Lourde are some of the familiar faces we see jamming to old tunes along with the newbies Matthew Morrison, Angelica Ross, Gus Kenworthy, Zach Villa and DeRon Horton.

As you can seen in the teaser, it seems to skip out the AHS regulars. Are they not coming back?

They are not. Sarah Paulson and Evan Peters, the two actors who have been bringing iconic characters to life in the show for 8 seasons straight, are both sitting this one out and fans are not sure how to feel about that.

Here’s what Peters told GQ about the new season and his choice to sit it out:

"“Yeah, I’m not doing it anymore. I just made a decision. I said to myself, “I can’t do it anymore.” It’s not me. It’s not who I am! I’m goofy, I’m silly, I like to have fun. I don’t like to yell and scream. I actually hate it.”"

Sarah, on the other hand, is busy with Ratchet, Ryan Murphy’s upcoming Netflix original show based on the novel One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest. There’s no official word on whether other regulars – Angela Bassett, Kathy Bates, Lily Rabe and Finn Wittrock will be joining the slasher season.

How do you feel about watching the show without Paulson and Peters? Longtime fans of the show are still NOT over Jessica Lange quitting AHS. Will you be watching the ’80s horror season?

American Horror Story: 1984 is set to premiere on FX this Sept. 18.
