Even though the post-apocalyptic landscape on Fear The Walking Dead continues to become more and more inhospitable, the survivors haven’t lost hope. In Season 5, Episode 6 “The Little Prince”, they’ll come together to beat the odds, of course, it’ll require everyone lend a hand.
In case you haven’t been keeping up with the latest episodes of Fear The Walking Dead, Alicia (Alycia Debnam-Carey) and her friends are currently trying to get out of a flooded area of Texas. The group was split up after a flight went terribly wrong, leaving them in this predicament. No one died but being separated has presented Alicia’s group with quite a few issues to deal with.
For one, getting all the necessary plane parts to Luciana and the crew has become rather troublesome. Victor’s (Colman Domingo) team have all the pieces, they just can’t get past the mountain ranges between them and their friends. Everything seems bleak until Victor realizes that Jimbo (Aaron Stanford) left them one more going-away present.
What Victor finds is that Sarah (Mo Collins) and Wendell (Daryl Mitchell) ransacking of Jimbo’s brewery also gave them possession of a hot air balloon. They hadn’t paid much attention to the item, though it definitely comes in handy.
When the balloon is all set up, Victor and Charlie (Alexa Nissenson) make the voyage over the mountain range to their friends. The sight is a joyous one as the two come over the horizon, and it’s a welcome reminder of what can still be. Unfortunately, the optimistic trip doesn’t last long.
At about halfway to their destination, Victor points out that they’re out of fuel. The balloon runs on fuel just like everything else, so without any, they can’t navigate over the mountains.
Because of this, Charlie and Victor have to crashland in the contaminated zone. They’re now faced with radioactive walkers who they can’t kill and can’t outrun either — what will they do?
On the other side of the mountains, John (Garret Dillahunt) and Dwight (Austin Amelio) continue their search for Sherry. They discover more notes left behind but John comes across a startling discovery at one particular site.
John and Dwight’s search takes them to a secluded house where someone has been camping at. Dwight believes Sherry could be nearby so he investigates further.
Meanwhile, John searches a car sitting close to the house for clues. He almost gives up hope of locating a message when a letter stashed in the glove compartment is spotted. John reads the letter, confirming that it came from Sherry. What John isn’t prepared for are the words therein.
In the letter, Sherry says a final goodbye to her husband. She tells Dwight not to continue searching for her, encouraging him to move on instead. Sherry finishes her message by saying she won’t be leaving any more clues.
John, well he’s completely stunned by the letter. He believed Sherry and Dwight would be reunited just like he and June (Jenna Elfman) were but that doesn’t appear to be the case anymore. So to avoid causing Dwight any unnecessary pain, he lies about the letter. It’s bound to come up again, but for now, Dwight is going to keep searching for Sherry under the impression that she’s doing the same.
What’s concerning here are Sherry’s motivations for giving up on Dwight. Her letter didn’t specify exactly what pressed her to make such a startling decision, though it may have to do with new developments in her life. Sherry has been gone for months so who knows what kind of adventures she’s been on. For all we know, she found someone else to spend her life with. Or, perhaps the runaway Savior has been infected and wants to spare Dwight the pain of putting her down.
Whatever the case may be, next week’s episode “Still Standing” is bound to bring more answers to this curious dilemma. We’ll also learn exactly how Victor and Charlie intend to get out of their little predicament as well.
