Speaking of reboots and remakes that don’t always hit the mark, 2004’s attempt at reviving the 1970s television series Starsky & Hutch in the form of a film wasn’t middling at best. You either loved it or it wasn’t for, which was mostly the deal with Frat Pack films of this era. No matter how you felt about it back then. Starsky & Hutch is still one of the best new release movies coming to Netflix this month based on its novelty alone.

Based on the television series of the same name, Starsky & Hutch stars Ben Stiller as the focused David Starsky and Owen Wilson as the laidback ladies’ man Ken “Hutch’ Hutchinson. They are detectives who keep their eyes on the crime-infested Bay City, California. They find the body of a drug dealer and trace it back to Reese Feldman (Vince Vaughn), but they fail to bring in the crime boss in while he manages to plot his biggest trafficking scheme without Starsky and Hutch’s knowledge.

Starsky & Hutch comes from director Todd Phillips, who also directed such hit comedies as Old School, The Hangover, and Due Date. The film scored mostly positive reviews from critics and a 64% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. It was also a financial success, pulling in $170.2 million worldwide against its $60 million budget. Dive back into a nostalgic favorite based on another nostalgic favorite when Starsky & Hutch arrives on Netflix at the top of the month.
