New on Netflix this weekend: Madame Secretary season 5 and more
What’s new on Netflix this weekend? You can catch a new season of Madam Secretary, as well as the Netflix originals Dope and Instant Hotel.
Similar to last weekend’s quieter slate of Netflix new releases, this weekend is another that doesn’t exactly bring the blockbuster names (we’ll leave that to the release of Stranger Things 3 next weekend).
Still, there are some hidden gems coming to the streaming service that you won’t want to miss out on. Here’s a quick and easy breakdown what’s new on Netflix and headed your way.
In television, fans will be excited to catch the popular series Madam Secretary when season 5 is released on Sunday, Jun 30. Actress Téa Leoni stars in this drama about—you guessed it—a newly appointed Secretary of State.
Also new on TV this week is the Netflix original docuseries Dope season 3. This show about the war on drugs made news recently, when one of its stars was sentenced on drug charges. Another Netflix original dropping this weekend is Instant Hotel season 2, the Australian competition series that focuses on home rentals. Both titles will be available to watch on Friday, June 28.
If you’d rather settle in with a good movie this weekend, perhaps you should give 20th Century Women a try. This 2016 dramedy wasn’t a massive release when it first aired, but it has since gathered plenty of positive reviews. Annette Bening stars as a single mom in the late 70s raising her son in a California boarding house.
As mentioned above, it’s not a huge weekend for Netflix, and that’s mainly because the next few weeks are dedicated to the release of Stranger Things 3, which premieres July 4. There’s never a bad time to rewatch the first two seasons of Stranger Things. If you don’t see something you like on Netflix this weekend, this is probably the time to catch up!
