There’s no time more suited to getting into a new show than the summertime, right? This month of the year seem to slow the pace and make for a greater focus on much-needed leisure time. And for most, leisure time includes a good binge-watch. Netflix boasts a next-level library of original and classic hit series to binge-watch, but why not dip your toes into an underrate gem like Syfy’s Wynonna Earp, which ranks as one of July’s best new releases.

Based on the comic book series of the same name by Beau Smith, Wynonna Earp stars Melanie Scrofano as the title character, who is the great-great-granddaughter of frontiersman Wyatt Earp. Wynonna fights the reincarnated outlaws that her great-great-grandfather killed and other supernatural beings that arise from the Ghost River Triangle.

In its third season, the series has only gotten better, grittier, and more addictive than ever, attracting positive reception from critics.

Wynonna Earp first premiered in 2016 on the Syfy network in 2016 and quickly gained a cult following in its fervent fanbase. The series earned a fourth season pickup, which would follow suit with the two previous seasons and air in the summertime, but news broke in February 2019 that production had been delayed due to its production company’s financial issues.

While fans wait for the next season of their favorite show, they can watch and rewatch the first three seasons on Netflix when the third season drops for streaming on July 16.
