Sometimes there’s nothing better than unplugging and unwinding with some mindless entertainment. Television has been increasingly asking more from viewers, whether it’s a challenging narrative or an overwhelmingly dark tone. But you’re lying if you won’t admit to blissfully wasting a day watching a marathon of cooking shows or game shows, both of which ask very little from the audience other than simply having a great time.

For every dark, binge-worthy drama series on Netflix, there have been more and more reality series popping up as the necessary counter-programming. Last summer, the cooking competition series Sugar Rush premiered and flipped the script on baking against the clock. Four teams of two face off to created cakes, cupcakes, and other treats in an unbelievably short window of time. The winning team that creates a confection that looks and tastes amazing takes home a prize of $10,000.

Sugar Rush features Hunter March as its host, as well as Sprinkles Cupcakes creator and Cupcake Wars vet Candace Nelson and MasterChef Australia alum Adriano Zumbo as judges. While the series hasn’t become as popular as Netflix’s other baking competition series Nailed It!, it’s a supremely entertaining watch not unlike something you’d catch on a lazy weekend on the Food Network.

If you missed the first season of Sugar Rush, binge-watch those eight episodes before diving into the fresh batch of episodes when they premiere on the final Friday of July.
