The Snow Ball dance

The second season of Stranger Things ends at the Snow Ball where many characters arcs and relationships with each other for the season are wrapped up and come to satisfying conclusions.

For Eleven, it’s getting the chance to dance with the person who she cares most for, Mike.

This scene was teased all the way back at the end of the first season when Mike is trying to explain to Eleven what being boyfriend and girlfriend means. In this final scene, we get to see what that looks like for the star-crossed couple and come to the realization that they have indeed reached that level, and it could not be more satisfying.

The scene is beautifully shot and the chemistry between Wolfhard and Brown here is undeniable, and they make a great on-screen couple. The scene is reminiscent of classic 80s love stories and the Duffer brothers direction and writing here is on point as Mike and Eleven learn to dance together.

It is also a great way to end the season for Eleven who has finally reached home. A lot of this season was Eleven trying to find her own identity, who she was as a young woman and what kind of person she wants to be. At the end of the day, Eleven realizes that she just wants to be with the people that she loves and that means being right here with Mike.

Despite the Mindflayer showing up right at the end to remind the viewer that the trouble isn’t totally gone yet, we still get a sense that at least for now everything is all right for Eleven, and we’re very happy for her and the rest of our young heroes!
