On the upcoming episode of FX’s The Weekly series, the New York Times team investigate the donations made to President Trump’s inaugural fund. Check out our preview below.

Just like each prior episode of FX’s hit series, The Weekly, the New York Times is once again taking a no-holds-barred approach to their latest investigation. Their subject this time around is President Trump, well, technically the finances of his inaugural fund.

The public already knows about a number of scandals surrounding the Trump 2016 Campaign, though a lesser-known one has to deal with donations made to the Trump Inaugural Fund. Federal law prohibits foreign parties from contributing to federal campaigns or inaugural funds, so when suspicions arose of Trump accepting donations from foreign entities, this set off alarms all across the board.

To get to the bottom of this controversy, the New York Times’ team interview members of the Trump Cabinet. Not everyone is thrilled with the idea of speaking to the media but some have stepped forward. Among those being interviewed are Steve Bannon and Anthony Scaramucci — two men who were associated with the Trump Campaign but were later excommunicated.

It’s unclear how much information they divulge to The Times’ team comprised of Ken Vogel, Sharon LaFraniere, and Matthew Rosenberg but that may not matter following a formal investigation by the United States’ attorney’s office. The Times reported in February that an inquiry was launched with prosecutors looking into all aspects of the Trump Inaugural Fund.

Inquiries aside, the potential for foreign interference is what has Americans worried. There’s no telling who donated to the Trump Campaign and the possibility of them calling favors for their generous contributions is a real prospect we need to consider. It’s also a pertinent dilemma seeing as how the Trump 2020 Campaign is gearing up for another run.
